To avoid the risk of damaging frozen components, it is best not to operate the awning in frosty conditions. If it is necessary to use the system during such weather, be sure to monitor it closely. This allows you to stop it immediately if anything appears frozen and helps prevent damage. Tip: In frosty weather, switch off the weather sensors to ensure the awning does not extend or retract on its own while you are away from home.
Awnings are built to withstand higher wind speeds, although you should always check the product data for specific limits. Even so, it is advisable to retract the awning before strong winds arise and to keep it closed during such conditions. This helps to reduce the risk of damage caused by sudden gusts. By adding a wind sensor to your system, this process can be managed automatically for extra peace of mind.
The primary purpose of an awning is to provide protection from sunlight and heat. When it begins to rain, it is advisable to retract the sun protection. Wet fabric can lead to increased wrinkling, water stains, and mildew. In some cases, a honeycomb pattern may also appear. If your awning becomes damp, it is best to extend it and allow it to dry fully once the weather improves.
If you do need to retract damp fabric, rainwater may enter the inside of the awning. Water can also seep into a closed awning, especially if it is installed on the side of a building that is regularly exposed to the elements. However, this does not damage the fabric. The water is collected in the awning’s drainage system and is safely directed away. In some cases, you may also notice water draining when the awning is next extended after a period of rain.
Awning fabrics naturally respond to outdoor conditions. Depending on whether it is dry or damp, warm or cold, the fabric may expand or shrink slightly. The size of the system also influences how the material behaves. These environmental factors can lead to minor waves or folds in the fabric. Such changes are completely normal and do not affect the function or durability of the awning.
Some minor irregularities are unavoidable due to environmental conditions and the production process. These may include creases, bulging or wrinkling caused by differences in the way the fabric winds around the roller tube. You may also notice rippling, slight overstretching in the seam areas, or a honeycomb effect. There is no need for concern. You are using a high-performance fabric, and these small blemishes do not affect its functionality. They are not considered defects and are not grounds for complaint or rejection.
What one person considers loud and disruptive might be scarcely noticeable to someone else. The same principle applies to the creaking sounds your product may produce. As temperatures fluctuate, the awning’s material naturally expands or contracts. This is a physical reaction that cannot be avoided. Some noise may also occur when the awning is extended or retracted. The volume of this noise can vary depending on the structure of the building. However, these creaking and operational sounds do not impair the awning’s performance in any way.
It is a good idea to inspect your awning from time to time. Check whether everything appears in good condition and is firmly secured. If you spot any issues, it is best to contact us for maintenance. We recommend cleaning the structure at least once a year or twice a year if it is used frequently. A useful tip: if you are going to be away from home for an extended period, retract the awning and switch off the automatic system. This will prevent it from operating without supervision.
If you decide after installation that you would prefer even greater comfort, you can choose from a range of additional products available within Weinor’s modular system. Naturally, some technical limitations may apply. However, these are rare exceptions, and we are actively working to overcome them.
Even when your awning is out of sight, weather sensors allow your radio-controlled awning to extend automatically when the sun shines and retract when it becomes rainy or windy. This helps maintain a more comfortable climate both on the patio and indoors. With the right sensor, you can also reduce the risk of water or storm damage to your awning.
For an awning to function correctly, all components must work together smoothly. Even slight unevenness on the wall can cause the awning to operate less fluidly. Weinor awnings respond to the condition of the installation surface and adjust when needed. Any resulting joints do not affect the performance of your awning. In fact, they help maintain its proper function.
