Cassita II - Good to know before you buy!

It is advisable not to operate your awning in frosty conditions, as doing so could damage frozen components. If you do need to use it in such weather, it is important to keep an eye on the system. This way, you can stop it immediately if any part appears to be frozen and help prevent damage. Helpful tip: In cold weather, switch off the automatic weather sensors to avoid the awning extending or retracting on its own while you are away.
Awnings are built to withstand higher wind speeds, though you should consult the product specifications for exact limits. Nonetheless, it is advisable to retract the awning before strong winds develop and to keep it closed during such conditions. This helps reduce the risk of damage from sudden gusts. If you install a wind sensor, it can manage this process for you automatically.
The primary role of the awning is to provide protection from sunlight and heat. When it begins to rain, it is best to retract your sun protection, as damp fabric can lead to increased wrinkling, water stains, mildew, and in some cases, a honeycomb-like appearance. If the fabric does get wet, it should be extended and allowed to dry as soon as the weather improves.
If you do need to retract damp fabric, rainwater may enter the inside of the awning. Water can also seep into a closed system, especially when installed on a weather-exposed side of the building. However, this does not harm the fabric. The water is collected in the integrated drainage system and is directed safely away. In some cases, residual water may also drain out when the system is extended again after rainfall.
Fabrics naturally respond to environmental conditions. Depending on whether it is warm or cold, dry or damp, the fabric may expand or contract slightly. The size of the system can also influence this behaviour. As a result, waves or folds may appear in the fabric. These are entirely normal and have no impact on the performance or durability of the awning.
Certain irregularities in the fabric are unavoidable due to environmental influences and manufacturing processes. These may include creasing, bulging, or wrinkling caused by variations in how the material winds around the roller tube. You might also notice rippling, slight stretching near seams, or a honeycomb effect. However, there is no need for concern. The fabric used is high-performance, and such minor blemishes do not affect its functionality. They are not considered faults and do not qualify as grounds for complaint.
What one person may find loud and bothersome might go unnoticed by someone else. This also applies to the creaking sounds your product may produce. As temperatures fluctuate, the material naturally expands or contracts, which can cause occasional noise. Sounds may also occur when the awning is being extended or retracted, with the volume depending on the building’s structure. These creaking and operating noises are entirely normal and do not affect the system’s functionality.
It’s wise to inspect your awning from time to time to ensure everything is in good condition and securely fitted. If you notice anything unusual, feel free to contact us for maintenance support. We also recommend cleaning the system at least once a year, or twice a year if it is used frequently. Helpful tip: If you plan to be away from home for an extended period, retract the awning and switch the automatic system to “OFF”. This prevents the unit from operating unsupervised while you are away.
Once your awning has been installed, you may find that you’d like even more comfort. Weinor’s modular system offers a variety of additional features that can be easily retrofitted. These include automatic weather sensors, heating systems, integrated lighting, new fabric options, and vertical sun protection for pergola models. All components are designed to work together seamlessly. While there are some technical limitations to certain combinations, these are rare exceptions, and we are continually working to improve compatibility.
Even when the awning is out of view, weather sensors allow the radio-controlled system to respond automatically. It extends when the sun is shining and retracts when it rains or becomes windy. This helps maintain a more comfortable environment both outdoors and indoors. With the appropriate sensor in place, the risk of water or storm damage to the system is also significantly reduced.
For the system to function properly, all components need to work together in harmony. Even slight unevenness in the wall surface can affect how smoothly it operates. Weinor systems are designed to adapt to the installation surface and can compensate for irregularities when needed. Any joints that appear as a result are not a fault. In fact, they help support proper performance.
